Emirates will now offer a second daily flight between Glasgow & Dubai on an A340.
Flight EK26 will depart daily from Glasgow at 2130hrs, arriving in Dubai at 0800hrs (next day); with the EK25 return service departing from Dubai at 1450hrs, arriving in Glasgow at 2000hrs.

Just a quick and random but related question, how comes EK does not serve EDI at all?
It seems rather strange to me that there is not no demand for that routing, and yet there obviously appears to be a large demand between GLA-DXB, even though EDI is the capital of Scotland?
When Emirates first decide to fly to Scotland they approached both airports,GLA had the facilities that Emirates required IE jet ways dedicated gate and were more willing to accommodate Emirates requirements
EDI hasn’t/or didn’t have the capability to handle Emirates requirement
as Im lead to believe EDI cant handle a fully loaded T7 their max is a 767/A330 for stands and runway length

I guess it’s a bit like why Qantas main base is Sydney and not Canberra 😀
Edinburgh although the capital is not where the most of Scotland’s populous is centred.. Glasgow is Scotland’s biggest city and GLA Scotland’s long haul gateway, Edinburgh takes care of puddle jumper routes..Also as Symon says EDI not really capable of handling a 777-300, never mind the terminal not being able to handle the pax:confused:
Could be another Far East route in the pipeline too Hainan Airlines had a very productive visit to Glasgow recently to discuss a new route.

Is a fully laden 777-300ER capable of departing EDI? Or would they have to use an A330?

I wondered that too but thinking about it EDI and GLA are close to each other as are EDI and NCL. GLA and NCL are a little further apart so could it just be a simple case of not saturating the catchment areas of the three airports by serving the two that are slightly further apart?

How long before they switch to a single A380….?
that depends on BAA Glasgow Investing some money on the infrastructure to accommodate the 380 ,
I’m sure if Emirates were to say to BAA Glasgow it wouldn’t be to long before the work started
