Inside the 787 question

Just been browsing the pics if the first production 787 for ANA, with all the hype over this new tube it strikes me how the cabin of the 787 is no different from other Boeing product’s. Forget all the major airframe materials from a passenger point it don’t look anything special against all the media Boeing threw at us. The first pic it from a 767-300 newish build with new 777 sig interior, it’s almost identical to the second pic of the 787?

A lot of interior decisions are the responsibility of the airline, not the manufacturer. I’m thinking of the seats, and how they are arranged.

With regard to what Boeing provides, I seem to remember that the lighting was different, the overhead bins larger, and the windows were much larger, on the 787.

And then there is what cannot be seen, but only felt: The higher pressurization/lower cabin altitude, and the humidity control.

Finally, I’m sure the In Flight Entertainment (once again provided by a subcontractor) is several generations ahead of that in the 767, given the rate of improvement in electronics.

Careful, I have the same opinion and I was labelled an Airbus-fanboi 😀

I will concede that we won’t know what it feels like until you have flown one, and any opinion at the moment is based on a picture.
