Thomson Airways – Volcanic Ash Disruption (May 2011)

Thomson Airways – Volcanic Ash Disruption

The Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland continues to erupt. In the past 24 hours the plume of smoke from the volcano has decreased from 20km to 12km. Nevertheless, the ash clouds are causing some disruption within Scottish airspace.

As a precautionary measure, the decision has been taken to operate all flights due to depart Glasgow and Edinburgh, on Tuesday 24 May, from alternative airports. The airline understands such diversions are frustrating; however, this decision was taken with the aim of minimising disruption on our customers.

All other Thomson Airways flights due to depart from the UK and Ireland will operate from their original airport as planned. It is important that all customers continue to travel and check-in at their departure airport as normal.

Tuesday 24 May 2011

Thomson Airways has confirmed the following changes for customers due to travel to and from Glasgow, Aberdeen or Edinburgh airport. It is important that all customers continue to check–in at the original airport as per their original itinerary, rather than making their own way to their new departure airport. Where necessary, the airline will provide onward transportation to transfer customers to their new departure airport.

Thomson Cruises

Island Escape is currently in Palma. The ship will wait for delayed Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen guests before departing on its cruise.
