Can anyone answer a very trivial question please ?
We went through Heathrow yesterday and my husband set off the metal detector when he went through it.
He had no belt,no watch,no keys or coins or pens,no packet of Polos wrapped in silver foil which set it off once,he even took off his gold-rimmed glasses.
There wasn’t a scrap of metal anywhere on him,but he set it off and this happens virtually every time we fly.
Are some people just naturally metallic ?

Bleeping sound = random security check
That’s what it was,he’s obviously a suspicious-looking character.
Actually, before he lost the beard he was a dead ringer for the murderer Dr. Harold Shipman.
Thanks for all your suggestions.

You may not remember it now, but when he went through did the alarm make a bleeping sound or was it a long constant sound…
Bleeping sound = random security check
Long constant sound = metal or some other item detected on said person.

If clothing doesn’t have a security tag removed, just disabled it can set it off, my wife has a jacket that sets off every store alarm it passes through.
I doubt your husband wears the same clothes every time though.

They also set off if you touch/lean against them. Is he brushing against it as he goes through?

Not at all BumbleBee.
They are set to randomly check people even if they haven’t got anything on them, so it could be set to set off the alarm every 3 people. Your husband was just unlucky. I get a rub down from security every day, if only they were female hey? 😉
