Exactly what this will entail is unknown at this time

Does BA still fly there? :diablo:
True 🙂 They may as well use the London Tube map on their tail!

Wonder if they will ever relaunch the British Airtours brand ?
I doubt it. I don’t think that there is a role for it today. There are plenty of non flag carrier backed IT and so called ‘low cost’ carriers that now occupy what was once the realm of British Airtours and others like them.

But then what about representation for Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland?

Is this not a logo from the British Olympic Association? British Airways would presumably not be allowed to use it without the BOA’s permission. I am not sure if the BOA would authorise its use beyond special promotional use around the olympics.
I always liked the Chelsea Rose design quite a lot. Maybe they can go for that one.
You may very well be right about the ownership of that logo. As I have no interest in any sport at all, I really hadn’t thought about that. Shame though, IMO, that or something very similar to it would seem ideal.
C’mon Sandly…..lets have it;)

Thats the baby! With some ‘tweaking’ with the fuselage, IMO this design could be a re brand just as is, or that tail logo could form part of an otherwise fresh livery. I like it, a cool mix of national identity and modernism. Would certainly stand out on a crowded apron.

I think I remember seeing that lions head livery on an A320 and B757. If i recall rightly, it was for the Olympics as im sure those planes also carried titles like ‘teaming up for Britain’ or something along those lines.

That said, how about something like the late BOAC stuff? Possibly the best livery ever?MH
I totally agree with that, a really classy looking trim. Wouldn’t suit the white fuselage and billboard brigade unfortunately. Look at what can be done with a little thought by ‘branders. The current Egyptair livery is, IMO a beautiful combination of ‘billboard’ titles and national identity in the form of Horus, the god of the sky, something there to please everybody!
Personally, I think that the red, white and blue ‘lions head’ design that was used on the fin for a while looked pretty good, I think that it was on only one or two aircraft to mark some sports event or other.

Lets hope that along with a new re-branding comes a new corporate culture change too; changing a logo/livery won’t solve deeper issues that exist within the company.
And, as long as they don’t use the people who did Finnair and/or JAL’s new livery, then we should be ok…:D
Can you imagine if they did, something like this perhaps (see below)?

To be fair i think the current scheme still looks smart, i have no knowledge to back anything up but didnt think this scheme had been around that long?
i mean how often do you expect an airline to rebrand itself? has it been around a long time compared to other airlines?

I dislike the current BA scheme intensely…
Too much white
The shading effect on the tail looks cheap (close up anyway) although I’m sure it’s not.
Hopefully they’ll bring back the Speedbird, Oxford blue full underbelly and red tail – why not call it, say…. ‘Negus’

I didnt like the world liveries at the time either, but looking back now don’t you think it shows an imagination that is sadly missing from a lot of companies and especially now from BA?
We lament when a dull scheme gets applied over a huge fleet and stays that way for years, but when something different is done we still complain.
The lack of the flag at the time was criticised as not showing enough national pride, but I think maybe Id rather feel a country was so confident in its national identity that it could afford to mix things up a little and experiment.

It’s livery has been around for a long time now and seems to me to be sorely in need of changing, as does the blue interior colour scheme.
I have to disagree, i think the livery still had many years in it yet, it still looks modern and it is instantly recognisable.
If anything they need to do something with their aircraft interiors, when we had their 747’s at NCL during the winter diversions the interiors looked very blank especially in 1st :S, so yeah maybe a redesign and update if they plan on continuing to operate the older aircraft.

I remember the last re-brand, when Thatch covered up the ghastly new tail schemes with a hanky!
Indeed I do Pagey 😀
