SAA to lose 737 fleet, forgets to renew lease!

If you know of an airline with too much bureaucracy, please have them ship cartons of red tape and forms in triplicate to South African Airways.

At the end of this month the carrier will remove two leased 737-800 aircraft from its fleet–but not because it wants to.

The carrier is believed to have “forgotten” to renew the 737s’ leases, according to a local media report. But don’t worry: a spokesman declines to comment on the accusation, except to say the 737 loss is no “train smash”.

I’ve only ever flown SAA once (1998, from LHR – Cape Town; Durban – Johannesburg and Johannesburg – London) as part of a school rugby tour and found them to be ok.
Mind you, the domestic flight in a sorry-looking B737-200 was a little hairy.

Every time I fly on SAA, there is always some or other problem due to incompetence. 😡 Don’t think that you can lodge any complaints, they simply ignore them or answer them with illogical mumbo jumbo. A while back they forgot to renew their URL so their website was shut down for a day. They are proud of the fact that they were voted the best airline in Africa, but look at their competition. It is like playing football against the blind. They have as much taxpayers money as they need to cover their incompetencies which is why they don’t go bust, and can elbow out the competition.
