I came across this link on another forum… apparently Virgin is planning to build a new Concorde: http://virginsupersonic.blogspot.com/
I really hope this is true, if anyone can do it, Branson can 😀

they pushed for a cheap way to send tourists into space (even a small hop of a couple of minutes) and are advancing nice in their testing.
As big companies (boeing, airbus, etc…) won’t go that way it wouldn’t surprize me that SRB decided to finances a study to develop a next-gen concorde…
what’s more, with today’s level of knowledge of aerodynamics, materials, etc, it wouldn’t be all that suprising that somebody manages to develop a quieter and fuel efficient SST

Unlike Virgin Galactic the blog is a private one …..

Virgin Galactic is Branson’s business side of things but the technology R&D is originally not Virgin’s.
The private blog is unlikely to have anything to do with Virgin and is someone’s personal wish list.
There are some scientific R&D developments in the supersonic/hypersonic arenas using alternative fuels to current fossil fuels but none of them are sponsored as yet by any airlines.

Airlines almost never develop and manufacture airliners.
Sounds like a bit of PR spin and hype to me. 😉

As much as I would love to believe this and the thought of a new Concorde-ish type aircraft gracing the skies would be fantastic, I am fairly sure that SRB and the Virgin Group would use far more and far better channels of communication to keep people updated, rather than a simple blog site (which incidentally only has 1 follower, the creator of the blog!)…;)
