There are simple solutions to printer cartidges
Hi Kabir
Unfortunately the authorities can’t envisage or foresee everything a ‘sick’ mind of a terrorist will conceive to use to secrete explosives or timing devices.
After all who thought anyone would use shoes, liquid in bottles, and many other common items used by terrorists in the past to secrete explosives.
Very ‘sick’ minds manage to do so and the authorities haven’t got many of these ‘sick’ minds working for them to identify which of the most common consumer items can be used for secreting explosives.
It may seem like knee jerk reaction but can it be helped?
Can anyone conceive of a see all, reveal all machine and if there was, how long would it take to build and the cost would cripple most airport authorities?
Especially manufacturers of the larger laser printer toner cartidges can alter their packing material to be clear blister pack with hologram and RFID identifiers rather than using as at present purely cardboard outer packing.
Security screening devices can possibly be easier tuned as can staff be trained to recognise tampered with blister packs than travellers cursing the fact that they have now to be checked if carrying toner cartridges/banned from carry on luggage alltogether.
Also I am unsure how many bona fide passengers carry toner cartidges with them as in most internet/cyber cafes and hotels there are printers of reasonable to high quality.
My message ‘sod’ the inconveniences fly, fly, fly and sort these crazies out, by being as defiant as they are and not cave into paranoia and fear they try to instill into the developed/developing worlds.
Air travel is still the safest and must remain so.
Would bringing back the death penalty in all countries for abject terrorism be an answer ? Probably not as these fanatics believe that by being a martyr to the cause they guarantee a place in heaven. Therefore by putting them to death as a punishment for the crimes thay have committed they are facilitated in reaching their ‘heaven’.

someone had a jerk in the knee….
Britain is cracking down on security in the wake of the cargo plane terror plot by banning printer cartridges in hand luggage and clamping down on freight from Yemen and Somalia.
There goes my plan to get the exhilirating experience of printing stuff on a flight. 😮

It’s completely sickening to see it start all over again
It’s completely sickening to see all this crap start all over again.
It costs/takes lives (innocent ones, passengers, crew), causes so much economic hardship and what comes out of all of it?
Zilch! apart from often unwarranted paranoia against anyone that may be of a minority appearance.
In this economic recession there is no place for terrorism and the only way to combat it is to fly, fly, fly even though the security checks may wear one down.
It is the only way to show terrorists that they will never, never win.
May God bless all of you that fly as crew and hope that you will all be safe as you travel far more air miles than us passengers.

Barack Obama says two suspicious packages bound for the US appear to have contained explosive materials and constituted a “credible terrorist threat”.
By: J Boyle - 29th October 2010 at 21:53
The packages were addressed to a “Jewish organization” in Chicago.
Probably not meant for Obama…unless he’s converted.:D
