Haha! Really, it’s all just opinion. I quite like it and think the colours work reasonably well personally but we all see things differently. It beats JAL’s new scheme anyday! 😀

Yes it does. 🙂

Wikipedia has a description on what the new branding is supposed to achieve:

A new corporate logo designed by Mara Institute of Technology (Malay: Institut Teknologi Mara) later known as Mara University of Technology (Malay: Universiti Teknologi Mara) was introduced on 15 October 1987, retaining the essence of the moon kite, with a sheared swept-back look. Along with the new corporate logo, a new type style – MALAYSIA, was created. It is italicised to slant parallel with the logo to accentuate speed as well as direction. Within this corporate typestyle, the letters MAS bear red clippings to denote the initials of the statutory name of the airline, Malaysian Airline System (MAS), and were added after the original design was rejected by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir. The introduction of blue to the original red logo has national significance. The red and blue divides equally in the middle to denote equilibrium.

Airlines should take a leaf out of Oman Air’s recent(ish) livery change, still love it!

Suppose it all depends on how much money the airline has to spend!

No.

That red & blue just doesn’t go together. It’s hideous.

Finnair and JAL have also done the same sort of things and it looks horrible.

Would you agree though that the MH one does look better than the Finnair and JAL ones?

It just looks like a design you would find on a milk carton.

Another carrier taken in by an overpaid image ‘consultant’:( I do agree that Malaysian’s scheme needed an update/change but really, is this the best that can be done?

If someone will pay me £1m to come up with a mess with which to paint a fleet of aircraft, I’ll do it.

It is going to look worse on an A380.

IF, they decide to take delivery. :diablo:

Detest it. It’s gross. The red & blue just looks wrong on the fuselage http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/sick/sick0021.gif

Would I be killed if I said, I like it? *hides* 😮

Hide behind me if you like (easily done). I quite like it as well! I think it’ll look sweet on a 777 and 747. 🙂

I do often wonder just what some people expect from a new colour scheme.

It is such a disappointing livery, the previous one was much better. Finnair and JAL have also done the same sort of things and it looks horrible. Lets hope no more airlines do this kind of thing.

…… and I have to say I think it does actually look a lot better on something like this, anyone else have a change of opinion and care to agree with me at all?

Nope.
Looks even worse on bigger aircraft, more white, more dullness.

I didn’t know about the new Malaysian livery until tonight, and I have to admit when I first spotted that A330 pic online I thought it must be a leased aircraft that they haven’t bothered painting in full colours… 🙁

Matt.

Hi all,

I know this is a thread from a while back, but seeing as the new MH livery was not quite so well recieved by some forum members, I thought I would post up a link to this picture from A.net showing one of their new Airbus A330-300’s, just to see if anyone has a change of opinion from their original thoughts.

I did say in my post above during the initial chatter on this thread that my opinion would no doubt change as I too was not so keen on it to start off with, and I have to say I think it does actually look a lot better on something like this, anyone else have a change of opinion and care to agree with me at all?

I quite like the Malaysian colour scheme. Nothing wrong with it IMHO.

The worst colour scheme is the Gabon Airlines on the A340.
That could be an absolute stunner but they have just painted small “Gabon Airlines” titles on it. Awful shame.

I usually get excited when I hear about a new livery, and I’ve been thinking that MH has needed a re-vamp for quite a while as I see them on a daily basis at LHR, but when I saw this it actually made me like the old style livery even more than I do now…

Would be interesting to see the new livery applied to their 747s to fully appreciate the latest scheme, but I doubt it will do much to change my opinion.
