Airband scanner in Germany

Somebody told me today that possesion of a scanner in Germany is not allowed. As I plan a trip to DUS soon and don’t care for any run-in’s with the airport police:eek:, does anyone know if this is true?

Airband scanners are illegal, but I have seen them used often on the perimeter. I would not use them at the DUS visitors terrace though. If only because you have to pass an X-ray device.

Same BTW for Belgium.

Am I the only one stupid enough to have carried airband scanners through x-ray screening at airports in about 4 different countries with no problem at all?

That’s interesting. They seem pretty relaxed on spotters on all other counts. Some of the best facilities in Europe.

I was told sometime back by a LH contact I used to work with that airband radios were illegal in Germany

Don’t quote me on it, but I have seen them being used. I also saw the police talking to a spotter at STR who was taking a lot of photos, but it all ended in smiles!:)
