Aeroflot takes off from taxi-way at Oslo Gardermoen OSL

I’m sure the story will be picked up soon by English media.

Article says the Airbus turned the wrong way and took off from the taxi way.

Funny thing is, same thing happened at Fornebu before the war. First commercial flight ever to Copenhagen and the pilot mistook the taxi way for the runway. Barely made it over buildings at the end of it.

Not looking for excuses, as this really was inexcusable. At the time this happened, the amount of snow piled up that had been ploughed was so high that from an aircraft you couldn’t see the runway / taxiway on the other side of the snowpile.

I guess you could still see it from the tower though :p

a LOT OF nato airfields were re designed so that the taxiway was also a secondary runway to provide alternate in case the main was bombed etc. oops sorry that is the other Oslo airport.
Found this similiar incident..

It’s really no problem, if the aircraft gets airborne and reaches it’s final destination without any in flight problms then that’s all that matters, why the fuss?

Please tell me you’re joking! That’s like saying it’s perfectly acceptable to drive the wrong way down the M1 as long as you don’t hit anything!

Makes me wonder why neither of the crew picked up on this.

Thats terrible! Sort of comical, but still, terrible! Lucky there was no traffic around on the taxiway.

Ironic how this event happens shortly after a KLM 737 took off from the taxiway at Amsterdam.
