Breaking News – Cockpit Scare On Canaries Holiday Flight

Dramatic isn’t it?

It’s amazing how the actual incident isn’t quite as dramatic as the headline. You’ve got to love the media.

Also, did anybody else wonder where the First Officer had disappeared off to in the accompanying photograph?

The First Officer may have been a relative of Ronnie Corbett. 😀

It’s funny how Thomson claim to have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to this sort of behaviour, yet nothing came of the incident. The man was arrested and then freed later on.

Maybe there’s a reason for that! People assume the worst too quickly in these situations. If the guy was genuinely panicking and was scared for some reason then he needs help, not throwing in a cell for a few years. There are circumstances where perfectly normal people can temporarily ‘lose it’, and it seems that’s what happened here for whatever reason, so again, the guy needs help to try ensure it doesn’t happen again. I’m very glad to see he was freed and this wasn’t used as yet another excuse to scare people into thinking every man and his dog wants to take aircraft out of the skies.
