Air France fat surcharge.

If you can’t fit into a standard airline seat, Air France will be charging you double.

About time too. It has always annoyed me that I will be charged for excess baggage whilst portly fat ppl pay the same as me yet are taking an extra 100lbs of blubber.

There is a drug that is the most commonly prescribed drug in the world..it’s called Prednisolone in Europe or Prednisone in the USA..it’s a steroid or corticosteroid ..and people who are on it gain massive amounts of weight as the main side effect and there’s nothing they can possibly do to lose weight while on this drug..my Cardiologist tells me half the worlds population use it for a multitude of diseases and it totally alters your metabolism

Thanks.
And being a steroid it will bring on late diabetes no doubt.

However, medical conditions usually have a prescription AND advice on how to get the weight off and keep it off.
An ex niece of mine has no Thyroid. She takes a tab every day of her life and can eat no crap. When she does eat crap, say like at a 3 day music festival, she piles it on…..but then a few days diet and it’s off again.

I don’t know of a medical condition that causes fat which cannot be controlled by drugs/diet or both. If there is, I’d like to know.

BTW, I’m not fat but I eat loads of garbage.

But I do eat more good stuff than garbage. Chops and 6 veg. plus mash tonight. And gravy. And wine. And mustard and apple sauce (Home made).
For afters I had most of a large bar of Kraft Dairy milk.

Breaking news on Fat.

Hollywood director Kevin Smith (Who?) was slung off Southwest AL. flight for being too fat to fly.

The airline states that overweight passengers must be able to lower both armrests or pay for two seats.
He said on his Twitter page: “I know I’m fat. But was [the flight captain] really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?

The trouble is, what if my friend Bill Pearl gets on the flight?

His surcharge would be on denouncing manliness.:D Shaved men belong in the water, trying to knock 0.0000000000000000001 of a second off the swimming records.

Anyway, his backside would fit in a seat. He may have to lean a bit to (a) Let the dinner lady past (b) let the guy next to him breathe (c) Assist in the aircraft turning.

I think we all know that the vast majority of overweight people are actually overweight because they “eat too many pies” There are exceptions to every rule, this exception being a medical condition.
The equation is quite simple, eat less crap and get off your ar$e and you’ll lose weight, there’s nothing complicated about it 😉

I’m not fat because PMN likes burgers.

Sorry about that. I should actually leave some for other people every once in a while!

That’s perfectly true.

Agree. Eat less junk and do more exercise. People wouldn’t put on weight if for example, they only ate celery and exercised 2 hours a day for example

Absolute nonsense, there are medical conditions that mean people put weight on regardless of what they eat. Me personally, I’m fat because I like burgers but that’s not the case for everyone.

Other part of me says what if its not a self-inflicted obesity? Maybe some kind of medical condition?

Those sort of medical conditions must be fairly rare,i am a little overweight but certainly would not pretend it was anything other than eating a little too much lard.

Some people metabolise food at a faster rate which doesn’t help some people. I have nothing against ‘larger’ people in general, but I’m with AF on this one. Other passengers shouldn’t have to suffer if some people have eaten a little too much food in the past or not done enough exercise.

One of my work colleages used to be quite portly but always said ”I dont eat much” LOL,when he was diagnosed as diabetic and stopped eating cakes etc – he lost about 3 stone in a few weeks.

I don’t know if putting a ‘fat surcharge’ is the right thing to do or not. I have been following this thread for a bit and can’t decide if its the correct method.

Part of me says ‘yes’ purely on the basis of my terrible experience flying DEL-LHR a few months back on 9W, I was literally pushed to a side by this well built gentlemen.

Other part of me says what if its not a self-inflicted obesity? Maybe some kind of medical condition?

Difficult. Because commercial aviation has become such a cut throat business.

The dinner lady was the size of a car and as ugly as a Fiat multipla.

Yes, they confiscated it. And have you ever had a decent cup of airline coffee? 🙂

BA first class.
AA first class wasn’t bad, but trying to do classy and posh is a bit of a waste when done by americans. The dinner lady was the size of a car and as ugly as a Fiat multipla. At least BA and Virgin pick good looking cabin staff, it makes the food/drinks taste that much better.

Alitalia back in the 70’s served perfik coffee.

I am personally all for obese passengers paying extra for another seat to accommodate them. I had a horrid 9 hour experience on DEL-LHR sector with the gentleman next to me giving me almost no space in my own seat.
