JAL – V Australia codeshare to Japan?

Code-share flights between V Australia and Japan Airlines (JAL) are being floated as a possibility, as the Japanese carrier looks to further trim its services, and the international arm of Virgin Blue, V Australia, eyes expansion into the Asia region.

JAL had previously operated B747s to Sydney and Brisbane, from Tokyo and Osaka, but withdrew from the Osaka flights, leaving them to Jetstar, and replacing the 747s with smaller 767s.

V Australia is understood to be considering flights from Australia to Asia, most likely Beijing in China, and a Japanese destination, most probably Kansai or Nagoya.

Currently JAL and QANTAS operate codeshare flights from Tokyo Narita, using JALways aircraft

V Australia are really working to make inroads now, possible codeshare with Delta on Syd – Lax and now possible codeshare with JAL.

i think Richie B wants to really take hold of the Aussie market.
