Another workhorse dies, B.707.

The aircraft is rumoured to be ST-AKW.

This sounds strange because the aircraft is designed to take off perfectly well with any one of the 4 engines out. Was the crash maybe caused by some other factor as well? One engine being inoperative (whether intentionally or otherwise) surely shouldn’t cause a crash like that?

I will try find out more information. I think that it was in the USA.

Here you go matey, : 16 FEB 1995 Kansas City International Airport, MO (MCI/KMCI)

If you dig around, there was a crash after takeoff when some guys were ferrying a 707 or DC-8 with one engine inoperative, i.e the takeoff was on 3 engines and it was an outboard engine which was inop. 😮

Don’t sugar coat it, tell it like it is!:diablo:

I’ve heard of operators flying old equipment such as the 707 unpressurized because the airframe hours were finished. I can’t call up ASN right now, but it seems that the crash was in 2009? OK, I see the first post was in 2009. Some cargo operations using old equipment like that can be dodgy.
