A380 @ PIK.

Rumor has it that the A380 will be doing touch and goes at Prestwick next Saturday.. does anyone have any proper confirmation of this and times?

Edit:

THE world’s largest commercial airliner, the 525-seat Airbus A380, is returning to the UK for a brief flying visit over the Broughton plant in Flintshire where its wings are made.
The iconic aircraft will make its first visits to Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as being seen over England and Wales, on Saturday.

The A380 is scheduled to fly over Edinburgh and Prestwick airports, the Northern Ireland International Airshow at Portrush, Belfast City Airport, the Broughton factory and Birmingham airport.

It will not land at any of these locations, but will perform an approach-and-go manoeuvre, which means it will come in as it would to land, but depart before actually touching down.
The giant aircraft is due over Broughton, where Airbus employees will be celebrating the company’s founding 40 years ago, at about 3.08pm.

Eighteen A380s have been delivered to airlines Emirates, Qantas and Singapore Airlines.

Kev

Cheers Kev.
I only saw it on climb out mind.. I just seen some video by Ian S on youtube (for some reason he shot it sideways:o) and it does look VERY close to touching down at GLA.. Glad everyone had a good day seeing her though, something nice to cheer up folk in the manky weather.

I didn’t make the trip to PIK partly because of the stinking weather, but am gutted she flew low over GLA without prior announcement – my office is right across the road, I could have watched in dryness and comfort!

Bah 😑

Same here Cath, had I known I could have walked to GLA and shot some hi-def video footage. Car being serviced today meant no chance of driving to PIK…

Forward planning is everything… apparently !

Saw it over Belfast left me breathless, what a monster! What was really impressive was how manoveurable it is considering it’s sheer size and also how relatively little noise it makes.

@ PIK. Well that was effing amazing to say the least, busiest I’ve ever seen Prestwick and we were on the slip road from Tarbolton. Place was absolutely crawling and pilots put on some display on the second fly over πŸ™‚

Can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures.

Just watched it fly over Edinburgh..cloud was really low but it banked into the centre of town from the Forth….it bloody well just floats in the sky..absolutely enormous….
Apart from going out to Turnhouse was difficult to judge where to be..all I can say is that if you were up in Princes Street shopping today..you would have got a fantastic view.

I will be down at Broughton to watch MSN1 fly over , quite looking forward to it, as its only for use as an Airbus flight test aircraft.

Thanks for the heads up, will be at Edinburgh on Saturday to see her come in. You would have thought they could have at least let her wheels touch Scottish asphalt! Oh well should be good nonetheless!!

Just one small error, the Belfast one should be EGAC not EGAA!

It was copied from elsewhere, I accept no responsibility for errors! πŸ˜€

It will not do any kind of touch and go , at about 700 feet from the ground it will throttle back up again and climb away at no stage will its wheels touch the runway —–> especially in EGAC [George Best Belfast City Airport] as it would tear the runway with the weight.

It would appear to be true, and here’s where it’s due to be and when:. Don’t shoot me if it doesn’t happen exactly like this, though!

EGPH: 1340
EGPK: 1400
Port Rush Air Show: 1420
EGAA: 1440
EGNR: 1510
EGBB: 1540
