What are the future of their A300-600s, one passed over head today and was wondering that they are a bit if an odd ball in there fleet, 757 and 767 have the same type rating to a degree, there FBW airbus fleet again not a great deal on conversion. And there somewhere lies the A300s.
Going back a few years Monarch had 767-300s on order but were never delivered, then not so long ago took one on their books, seems a strange decision that leaves a very varied fleet type.

The A300’s are just rather tired inside and are ready for a refit. Some what cramped from what I remember as well – 3-3-3 config.
I flew LGW-Rhodes-LGW last summer on the A300.
Not only tired inside, but ram-jam full of seats. I’m 6foot1 and I could not relax in the seat unless I put my legs at 45 degrees under my wife’s.
The week after I flew on a Fly-be Dash 8 400. There was 4 inches in front of my knee to the seat in front. Superb.

They seem to go tech rather a lot at LGW a couple of months ago, and a couple of times have had the fire services out as well when they have come back in!!
They are a nice aircraft to watch though on the approach–dont lets lose them yet-there are too few larger a/c here now at LGW!!!

Maybe we will see Monarch cancel the 787 orders!!
The A350 must be looking increasingly attractive to them (and others) 😉

I believe that the sole 767 is due to return to Thomas Cook at the end of this summer too!
I flew on the A300 last summer from MAN to Dalaman and am unfortunetly due to fly on the A300 again this summer – not the most comfortable of planes around!! Almost as tatty as the DC-10 Monarch had just before it was parted out with.

Monarch had better get some major life extending engineering done on those A300s if thats the case.;)
Exactly…:rolleyes::)

As I understand things, the Boeing 787 will replace their A300’s.
