Southend Airshow 29 May 2006 – from behind and above the seafront.

Here are some of my pics.

Sunny when I got there. Then clouded up. Falcons displayed early at 11.30am with a lower level drop. Shortly after started to rain which cleared up just in time before main display started. Then two or three alternating brighter and darker spells with intermittent light showers. Tornado display during dull priod. A two hour sunny/bright period followed (very lucky) before it clagged up again during Black Cats display then started to rain again during Typhoon display.

Sea Vixen and Sabre replaced Canberra and Hunter in flying programe. Is the Canberra ready? It not appear at Duxford Airspace either – dropped of the list a week before show.

No BBMF although I was told it was at Southend Airport on the Sunday.

EC135 Helicopter came after Typhoon and closed the show instead of opening it.

Mustang Ferocious Frankie did impressive looking low level runs.

Hope this year will not be the last show.

SEMEA – I think I walked right past you – the 100-400 Canon lens you mentioned above reminded me ! Good spot btw!

Great shots, good to see the sea vixen out and about. Saw it from a distance today as it looked like it did a flyby at Farnborough on its way home from Biggin hill.

I was standing about 100-150 yards back from the seafront on the upper road so all the aircraft were quite far away including Mustang Janie. The picture is about the best one I got of it in the flying display. However, I am sure I have got better images of it elswhere so I will check.

Thank you for you kind comment. The camera was a 30D and 100-400 Cannon Lens. The Camera died at the Biggin Hill airshow but replaced later that day under retail warranty.

Great photos there.

I went to the seafront on the Sunday and the airport on the Monday. the Lanc was parked up near the ATC Lasham – it was ‘unserviceable’ and didnt fly at all over the two day airshow.
