Hi all,
What is the longest flight you have done on the flightsim? With flight simulation rate normal. Mine is a toss up between Frankfurt – Edinburgh about 1 hour and 20 mins in a Lufthansa 737 and Dubai Intl – Kuwait Intl about 1 hour 15 mins in a Emirates A330. What have you guys done?

‘completed’ Japan Airlines Tokyo – LAX. i haven’t got time anymore to have the computer running for the entire flight in real time, so i cheated just a tincy bit with 16x time compression. shots coming later on the screenshot thread!!!! 😉
i think its a 10 1/2 hour flight

Mine would probably be LHR to Sao Paolo (gru) and Santiago de Chile (SCL). Never ending 16hr flight in total. Flying over the endless atlantic ocean in the middle of the night is the most gruling part!
My shortest would have to be Brussels (BRU) to Schiphol (AMS) with SN brussels BaE 146. Flight time of 40 mins.
Wow – what a mission! (LHR-GRU not BAE 146)…. 😀

I flew a Monarch Airlines A300 from London Gatwick to Puerto Plata last month. A few weeks ago I flew an Aer Lingus A330-200 from Dublin to New York JFK. Last week I flew a British Airways 767-300 from London Heathrow to Accra and I’m currently flying an Emirates A340-600 from London Heathrow to Dubai… I’m nearly there, too! 🙂

Once left a Singapore 747 on overnight from LHR-Changi. When I landed I hit the ground to hard and crashed 🙁
Did the same thing on my 2nd flight from Edinburgh – Tenerife. I idled the throttles far too early and smacked it onto the concrete.
What will the boss say

I’m more of a short haul flyer, however I occasionally do a hop to NYC from the UK when the lure of a long haul aircrafts detail tempts me, my longest is a B744 Lufthansa flight from FRA -> JFK

NCL – IBZ on Vatsim, with the pleasure of Mike Sweeney half the way 🙂

That’s be a toss up between FUE-LGW at about 4.5 hours(ish) in an FCA 757-200 and DME-LHR in a BA 767-300 at just under 5 hours.

LAS-DXB in the 777LR, 15 hours with a nice tailwind! I took off and left it over night, If that doesn’t count then I have done Cancun – Manchester which took around 8 and half hours.

Ive just downloaded the Virgin Global Challenger plane..and im planing a round the world trip non stop.
Apart from that, my longest flight has been in a Air New Zealand 744 Auckland-Los Angeles 14hrs 34mins

Again Ive done LHR-SIN twice and LHR-IAD-LHR.
I flew AKL-LAX but at a much accelerated rate. I landed anyway despite the weather in LAX being awful.

I have fancied trying a round the world trip on FS2004, but I know I most likely not going to finish it. As Moggy says above, long flights get tedious (even in real life).
I may give it a go someday though. I also prefer combat flight sims, with IL2 Forgotten Battles and it’s addons coming in as my current favourite.

I can’t be bothered to do long flights, combat is reall my bag.
But a few months ago I decided to do a Round-The World trip.
I grabbed a Citation or Lear (Whichever you get as standard with FS2004) and started out.
The rule was I had to be at the controls full time.
Currently (And for the last several months) It’s been parked at Cairo. Hope the thieving beggars haven’t stolen any bits off it.
It’s pretty tedious really. Doubt I’ll bother to go further unless I get ill and take time off work.
And even then combat is what it’s about. 😀

Not knowing anything about long haul flights (being a GA bod), does everyone sit at the screen for the duration of the flight or is one doing the shopping, walking the dog, sleeping whilst the aeroplane is flying along on auto-pilot towards its destination. If so, I could never do it, I just haven’t got the patience or the stamina.
Umm I know this may sound like I’m being funny about the subject, I’m really not, I’m just curious thats all.

I fly for UPSVAC and regularly fly across the pond once a week if i can EGNX-KPHL or KEWR but longest flights ever are EGNX-PANC 12.25mins and EDDK-VHHH. 11.35mins.
East Midlands is a growing new hub for UPSVAC and as such most main fleet route rotations use a short flight to Cologne’s hub first.
The long hauls i save for days off and usually do them online though my average flight distance is about 2hrs.

10 hours from London to Hong Kong? There must have been one serious tailwind on that particular day! :diablo:

This is a question for Future Pilot.
Did you know your jet photos link has a spyware cleaner thingy in it? It sprang up via my web browser, Firefox, & I couldn’t get rid of it.
I had to shut my Mac down in order to get away from it. I will not be clicking on other links on this site in future, if this is the sort of thing that happens.
Morning mate, with regards to my Jetphotos.net link it is used by plenty of members on this forum and they have never experienced such problems (of if they have they have reported to the actual sight) yes it is true that JP.net is known for the numerous ‘pop-up’s’ but all you have to do is click the cross and they ****** off!
The only way anything like a spyware cleaner could be installed on your computer is if you click on the actual pop-up, as I say if you have a problem with this you’ll have to talk to JP.net directly but we all know pop-ups are a fact of life on the Internet and most of us have pop-up blockers.
Incase you didn’t know Firefox has one installed on it already…..
1. Click ‘Tools’
2. Click ‘Options’
3. Click the ‘Contents tab’
4. Click ‘Block Up Popup Windows’
Thanks
Tom
