Air New Zealand intends to play matchmaker for 300 lovelorn American singles.
The adventurous singles will be flown from Los Angeles to Auckland next October to what party organiser Steve Bayliss bills as an aviation first.
Mr Bayliss, head of Air NZ marketing, says the October 13 flight includes a pre-takeoff event in LA, party games above the Pacific en route, a singles-only bash on arrival and a grand matchmaking ball at Auckland’s SkyCity convenvtion centre.
It comes after Air New Zealand released an ad with staff in body paint that has become an internet sensation.
Travellers and Kiwi partygoers will be able to connect beforehand by uploading their dating profile to an online networking site set up by the airline.
“If your dating profile says you enjoy fine wine and long walks on the beach, then New Zealand is your perfect place for romance,” the marketing man says.
“Our down-to-earth, warm and wonderful people are an added bonus … with that not-to-forget splendid Kiwi accent, what more could an American guy or girl looking for love ask for?”

Two NZ sheep farmers are flying the mob to a new farm. Suddenly, the engine fails and the plane begins to fall quickly to the ground.
SH1: “Quick! Grab a parachute and jump!”
SH2: “What about the sheep ?!?”
SH1: “****** the sheep !!!!”
SH2: (pause) “Do you think we have time?”
