A Lufthansa plane crew refused to let Ukraine’s Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko and his son board a Frankfurt-Seoul flight because they were drunk, German police said yesterday.
The Ukrainian interior ministry denied that Lutsenko had been drunk but the country’s president said he was “worried” about the incident on Monday.
Lutsenko and his 19-year-old son arrived in Frankfurt on Monday from Kiev and were to fly on to South Korea, a Frankfurt police spokesman said.
A spokesman for the Lufthansa airline did not give any names but said the plane’s captain had decided not to let to Ukrainian passengers board the plane for “safety” reasons.
The minister and his son finally took a flight on Tuesday.
