Itami Airport, Osaka, JAPAN – An ANA plane, carrying 407 passengers and crew members, taxied onto a runway without permission while waiting to take off.
A JAL Express plane from Sendai with 167 people on board was preparing to land on the same runway, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
An air traffic controller instructed the JAL Express flight to continue its approach at around 9:20 a.m., after telling the ANA plane to wait before the runway. The ANA plane apparently ignored orders, however, and entered the runway a minute later. The JAL Express aircraft was forced to land after a 13 minute delay.
No one was injured, and neither plane damaged in the incident.

How do you know that these were due to runway incursions? There is a difference between a runway incursion and going around because another aircraft hasn’t cleared the runway in time. I have experienced only two go-arounds and both were due to other traffic having not cleared the runway in time – not because of aircraft entering the runway when asked not to.
The two in SFO were incursions as we were informed by the pilots…granted the one in Sydney was because a United 744 had left some rubber on the runway while landing just ahead of us

Yes i’ve been on several flights over the years where we’ve had to go around because of incursions…twice in San Francisco and once in Sydney!!!
