Hi,
Can anyone able to tell me where it is best to sit on a Dash8 Q400?
I have just booked to fly with Porter Airlines between New York Newark (EWR) and Toronto City Centre (YTZ), but this will be the first time I have ever flown on this type of aircraft, or indeed a turboprop!:cool:

Thanks Josh, yeah it was lucky actually because originally the fares were $69 one-way the other week, I came back to book them and it had gone up to $135…so I put it off.
Was just by chance that I decided to check their website again today and the fares were back down to $70 this time, so I booked it!:)

Porter look like a great airline so I’m sure it’ll be great wherever you sit.
Indeed they do OneLeft, one of the reasons I decided to fly with them.

Not bad for daytrip that costs me £140rtn (inc. taxes) in my opinion, and as the video suggests, it saves alot of time compared to flying through YYZ!

I quite like the Q400 – I’ve flown on a few, all Augsberg/Lufthansa. If you want a good view, I would go either for the very front, or towards the rear – the engines are quite large and restrict the view substantially, particularly on the ground. The forward cabin other than the very front is also a bit noisier, particularly in line with the prop disks (IIRC there is one row where there is no proper window view due to the props).

I can only comment on the Flybe Q400’s but I assume they are much the same.
Unless you are a lover of the front row, there’s not much to choose. They offer a one class cabin and don’t have exit rows (except the aforementioned front row) so all the seats are much the same.
There is the theory that prop aircraft are generally quieter at the rear, but I find the Q400 is fairly quiet throughout.
Porter look like a great airline so I’m sure it’ll be great wherever you sit.
