Hello all,
Myself and Tom Gautier ‘Tom@EMA’ will be heading off to Brize Norton tomorrow and are going to make a jaunt over to Kemble as well to shoot some of the stored airliners. Can anyone give any advise as to where the best places for viewing are, is a ladder needed or can you shoot through the fence etc.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Huw:)

Bit of friendly advice…..
1) It’s the North Gate that is the entrance for AV8, not to be confused with the Main Gate
2) From the AV8 side of the airfield, any views of the stored airliners are scarce, as the new hangar constructions block most of the close views…
3) Better overall views can be seen from the infamous layby on the south side of the airfield (i.e. the A429)
See this link for airfield info: http://www.kembleairport.com/contact

I have been a few times , when you get tom the main gate ,tell them yo are going to the AV8 resturaunt and they let you in.
When in ,so log has you done go where you not to and you ask can you go inside hanger’s ,you should have no problems.
Usally go there after Fairford, they also serve a nice cold pint of lager .

To be fair, websites tend to be quite good but asking people for first-hand experience is even better, especially since these sorts of websites are rarely updated. Also, people can tell you if you are likely to be moved on or run into trouble.
Sometimes I miss the old “Airliner World” forum, sigh…
Exactly, you can’t have a conversation with a website about it’s first hand expiriences:rolleyes:

Asking was your first mistake! Asking on an aviation forum – it beggars belief!

Thanks for that. I had previously steered clear from Thunder and Lightnings because some of the stuff on there is well out of date, but I now see that the Kemble page was updated last August.

Both of the above are fair representations of the truth.
