The Comet circa 1961 taken at Melbourne’s old Essendon Airport..now wouldn’t that look great on a BA 777

I was passing through Amsterdam on Saturday and I saw what appeared to be a Martinair aircraft in a retro paint scheme. Can anyone confirm this.

PH-MCL, has been around for some time now.

Ha….an opposition of one with a handy hankerchief! 🙂

Jings, I just might get away with another “the former premier must go” sentiment here. ;):D

Today (sunday) PH-BXA will fly KL1288/KL1289, that’s the EDI service with ETA 18:45 local time. Probably a bit too late for good light, but try to make the best out of it. The afternoon EDI flight KL1281/KL1282 will be with Embraer PH-EZA.

Aberdeen’s morning flight KL1441/KL1442 will be with Embraer PH-EZB. After that run it will go to Newcastle as KL0961/KL0962.

BA Retro Paint Jobs

Ha….an opposition of one with a handy hankerchief!!!!….most (not all!) of the One Worlds were great and the Flying Club Cherokees etc look great in the retro OneWorld schemes!! ….I think the idea of an Imperial Airways scheme might be a step too far though! 🙂

Very cool! But still not as stunning as the Finnair retro Airbus. Come on BA…how about a BOAC 747 and a “Red Square” A320/321:)

agreed…. Finnair’s retrojet is one of the best till date.

Hey Neil, howabout re-painting your T3 in that scheme ? I do believe it would qualify as a ‘retro scheme’ ! 😀

I know that there has been a lot of talk within BA for at least one or two aircraft to be painted in retro colours , but I think that mangement are a bit reluctant after the OneWorld tail colours scheme and the opposition to it

What i would like to see is BCAl colours scheme , BOAC, and maybe BEA

Kevin

Maybe BA management should listen to the people who thought those tails were actually a good idea and take a risk…? Doh, I forgot we’re dealing with BA management here…:D

Apologies Paul,

Come to think of it, I believe it may be that one of your earlier posts has lodged subliminally in what’s left of my grey-matter.

In any event the BOAC and BEA liveries would look fantastic!

Can any of our computer literate posters produce mock-ups?

A BA Jet in Imperial Airways colours would look stunning methinks. I think they are part of BA’s lineage?

Imperial to BOAC (possibly a merger?) then BOAC + BEA = BA

hmmm, I think I’ll dig out my 757 template and do a BOAC jet and Imperial Airways jet
