Why no BA on LHR-DUB Route?

Simply the title is the quesiton.

EI have no onward connections let that can easily sustain i think is it close to 10 Daily Flights, due to the O&D traffic. The same with BD, they can sustain 5 daily flights i think is it, not only with O&D traffic but with onward connections with *A.

Are BA loosing one world irish passangers due to there been no LHR-DUB and Vv on BA. They could easily sustain this, the O&D traffic is there with out a doubt, but also the onward connection that BA offer are easily one of the best out of LHR. All USA flights arrive between 0600 and 1400, and depart approx the same hours, well thats a lie all day. All Afrcian Traffic arrives and departs morning and Afternoon/Evening, Asian/Oceanic traffic departs during the day and arrives early morning. Middle eastern arrives in the Morning/Afternoon and departs Morning/Evening.

There are plenty of onward connections that are offered. They are loosing out to *A, and hopefully the potential of LH becoming BD’S mummy will become a kicking up the **** for BA.

.

As an aside has anyone noticed the bmi billboards around LHR advertising “Heathrows second favourite airline”? Now there’s something for the competition to aspire to!

So I’m guessing that puts BA about third…right…? 😉

If you go onto the Irish version of BA.com and try to book fr example DUB-LHR-HKG then BA will automatically book you onto an EI flight, the codeshare agreement is still there. EI dont charge you for baggage if you are transferring onto BA flights.

From the end of next March EI and BA will also codeshare on LGW-DUB.

“Heathrows second favourite airline”?

I maybe old fashioned (even though I’m only 22yrs old!:p), but does putting ‘second favourite‘ appear to undersell (if there’s such a word, but you known what I mean!) the airline?

I know that BA is probably seen to be the ‘favourite’ because its got the largest no. of flights to/from LHR and carries the most no. of passengers each year.

Maybe ‘Heathrow’s alternative airline’ would sound better as that to me creates more of an image that customers have a choice of who they fly with?

Also, wouldnt ‘second favourite‘ have to go to Virgin Atlantic seeing as they serve similar destinations to BA and have the most rivalry between them?

BA have an agreement with EI, from decades back, not to compete on LHR Ireland routes.

They used to have a codeshare agreement on the EI’s LHR routes, but that has been dropped in recent years. There is an interline agreement on LHR Ireland routes with both EI and BD making it easy enough to transfer onto BA and vice versa.

Don’t BA codeshare with EI on this route? I flew LHR-DUB with EI a few months ago and I’m sure I remember seeing the flight code as both EI and BA. I could well be wrong though… I’d had a few Heinekens by then!
