First KLM E190

I’m sure a picture of this has appeared elsewhere before (but maybe not :D) but here’s a shot of it on the ramp at Recife Guararapes…..

These little planes seem to be very popular Worldwide..they are becoming quite a familiar sight around Australian airports in the colors of Virgin Blue

Does KLM still send the A330 to LHR?

As far as I am aware, the A330 is only used during the peak of the summer period to provide increased capacity in the morning for those passengers that are using AMS as a connection hub for onward flights, but as new aircraft begin to arrive (KLM are receiving more 737NGs now!), I dont think it will be used on the LHR-AMS route again, but that is not confirmed…thing is you never know what might happen, and to be honest I think it would be more of a surprise on the day you depart if you found out that your travelling on a long-range aircraft on a short-haul route.

I was asking why would KL send thr E-Jet to LHR from AMS when it seems ti be a high demand route. I know they operated smaller Fokkers from EIN and RTM but they are hardly as busy as AMS.

Does KLM still send the A330 to LHR? I cant see them sending both the A330 and the E-Jet on LHR runs, they are 2 opposite ends of the scale.

I can see them sending both, they seem to send everything from Fokker 50’s to A330’s and everything in between into LHR!

Cityhopper has pulled its services from LHR in favour of LCY…;)

Thanks for that, didn’t know that! I guess not then.

I’m impartial, The Q400 is the better looking plane, but we don’t get so many ATRs around here.

Why would that be a problem? The Cityhopper flights where from Eindhoven and Rotterdam, the Airbus from Amsterdam. Having said that, the Airbus no longer flies to LHR.

As mentioned by cloud_9 the Cityhpper flights where pulled in favour of LCY. The LHR slots are on loan to NWA (and Continental?).

Cityhopper have daily flights to LHR with both F50s and F100s. So it’s quite posible E190s would appear on said route.

At the moment it is a toss-up between the ATR-72 and the Q400.

Q400 gets my vote.:)

Just had confirmation you are right on that, as was indeed to be expected. First commercial flight will be the 17th to Zürich.

The first one will be going 17 november. That will be PH-MJL. However, that was a temporary lease and the plane was never even painted in KLM livery. As for KLM’s own fleet retirement plan, I do not know.

Shame that MJL will be first to go, it’s actually really nice inside!! Despite all the problems they (regularly) cause me at work, i’ll miss the Fokkers when they eventually go, they have character. The 190 looks good though. If KLC are choosing between the ATR72 and Q400 for an F50/F70 replacement, I hope they choose the Q400!

Nice looking aircraft there.

Is it just ‘Cityhopper’ that have ordered the E190 or has KLM got any orders for their main fleet?

The reason I ask is because I was wondering if we would ever get to see them on the LHR-AMS route by any chance? I suppose not because the 737 is larger in order to accomodate the no. of pax that are simply using AMS as a connection hub to their final destination.

The Embraer will not be operated by KLM, only Cityhopper. The order was a joint KLM/AF order, so some of the Embraers from this order will be delivered to AF Régional.

Just read on luchtvaartnieuws (dutch only) that it is likely the F100s will still outlive the F50s in the KLM fleet. KLM has said they want to increase capacity, so the ATR-42 will not be the replacement. At the moment it is a toss-up between the ATR-72 and the Q400.

The F70 will stay in the fleet for some time to come. In fact, Régional will be transferring their F70s (5) to KLM Cityhopper as their new E-190s are delivered.

In the article it is mentioned by Jan Witsenboer (director fleet development, KLM) that the E-170 is not necessarily gonna be the F70 replacement. KLM is also looking at Mitsubishi’s MRJ. The Russian Superjet, Chinese ARJ or canadian C-series are at the moment not considered. KLM considers Rekkof to be dead.

Of course we cant expect it to be flying on passenger flights as soon as it arrives! Lots of crew training no doubt! The KLC cabin crew we have based at NCL have all be doing Conversion course to the Embraer.

Anybody know when the first 100s will leave the fleet?

I thought it was to be EDI and MAN. Along with ZRH, GVA, CPH and MUC. I do not know which destinations will come first though, so since there is just one Embraer at the moment it might be a while before it lands in the UK. Then again, it might as well be tuesday already.

The Embraer is due to be delivered at AMS monday. Not sure if it will stay on the ground a few days for mechanics and ground crew to get used to it, or if it will be taken into service immediately. I would guess on the plane not being taken into service immediately.

I was going off the top of my head mate knew it was one of the scotish airports took a guess at ABZ. Of course we cant expect it to be flying on passenger flights as soon as it arrives! Good looking Jet!

I Think ABZ and MAN will be the first airports to get the E190 visiting in KLC colours!
