MONTREAL – An Air France Boeing 747 skidded off the runway at Montreal’s Trudeau International airport after it landed Tuesday afternoon but the incident caused no injuries, police said.

“The plane overshot the runway when it landed and got stuck in the grass,” said Const. Laurent Gingras of Montreal police. “There were no injuries.”

Video of the airplane showed no signs of major damage.

Emergency vehicles surrounded the jumbo jet at the airport as crews worked around the aircraft, which was stuck in the grass beside the runway.

Some 500 passengers were on the wide-bodied plane. Passengers were shuttled to the airport in small groups and were observed preparing to leave the airport around 7 p.m.

The airport remained open and television footage showed planes continuing to take off and land.

According to the Aeroports de Montreal website, the flight arrived in Montreal as scheduled at 5:49 p.m. from Paris. The plane landed on the runway 24 Right, the longest at the airport.

The airline and airport officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Tick the box for option of off airport delivery! Suggest you look at Air Transat.

Air Transat, particularly if you are interested in a stop over mid-atlantic.

Crashes

These crashes are getting popular now, I had that one over Coventry near me with the light aircraft, then the Span air, then the 737. What next? An A380 goes down? 😮

Air France’s Canadian airport insurance rates must make for interesting reading…

😀 It looks like their ‘no claims’ is once again gone!
