Well…
Another prime example of some people that cant take their “ale” and have no regard for other people…..
A plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Frankfurt after two drunk British women tried to open a cabin door at 30,000ft.
Passengers were on an XL Airways plane
The women, aged 26 and 27, became violent towards cabin staff during the XL Airways charter flight from Kos in Greece to Manchester.
They had to be held in their seats until the plane landed and were then arrested by German police.
A spokesman for the Frankfurt force said the 26-year-old woman repeatedly tried to hit a flight attendant with a vodka bottle after she was refused alcohol.
“She evidently wanted to get some fresh air and tried to open the door, which obviously did not work,” he added.
“Both the women drunk a lot of alcohol on the plane and it was a risk because they made some trouble.
“The captain thought it was better to make an unscheduled stop in Frankfurt and get them off the plane.
“They wanted to open a door in the plane but that was not possible and someone
from the security held them in their seats until the landing.”The women were questioned by police but were later released and allowed to return to the UK.
Police are deciding whether to press charges including grievous bodily harm and violating air traffic regulations.
The plane flew on to Manchester with a two-hour delay.
It was reported last month that an XL Airways flight from Glasgow to Dalaman, Turkey, had to turn back to Scotland after a fight between two drunken passengers.
XL Airways flies to 50 destinations from 12 UK airports.
If you ask me.. they should be up in front of a court 9:00am Monday morning and banned from flying for life! (but that will be against their “human Rights”)
Cheers

1) Drinks:
Isn’t the rule; Only one drink per hour in public?… Otherwise, things could
get crazy.
In what sense? As in that should be a general rule in all public places?
Please, please tell me you’re not trying to quote that utter nonsense as a credible source of information. Please…

Drinks & Doors

2) Doors:
One Quantas report (after oxygen tank blew) said that the door latchs
handle would shear off 747 if someone, or something, tried to open it without
authorization. Could the door handle have sheared if person(s) tried to
open the door on this flight?

I dont belive a word of there story.
she said. “But we went out with them once. In fact we only went out twice the whole week – people were calling us boring”
Yer right love.
Both have criminal convictions and have reputations where they come from.

It’s not endemic to Britain ..i’m afraid it’s a Universal problem
You can sort of see why he’d think that, it’s all we get day in, day out in the media here in the UK these days.

Just typical brits who cant handle drink and resort to violence and thuggery because they cant get what they want.

They ran this story as top story on North West Tonight,
a passenger took a video of it,
the women, did indeed look the type to ‘want some fresh air’ at 30,000ft!What made me laugh,
with all this going on, the diversion etc,
apparntly, the flight landed only 15 minutes late in Manchester!
Good old XL Airways! Ha!And on one of their new Boeing 737-900!
can’t they respect the new planes
:]Jon
Having had the pleasure of a two day chartered trip and subsequent night out with some of the XL girls, I’m sure the ‘offenders’ were soon put to rights. I’ve seen how proud they are of the new 739’s ! 😀

She was obviously inebriated before she boarded the flight..so the question is how did get aboard in that state
Sadly, they are on occasions, briefed by the ground staff on how to behave at first so that the cabin crew don’t refuse them. Believe me I’ve been on the receiving end. I also once had a group board after I’d told the dispatcher I wasn’t prepared to take them (after talking to the Capt first) as I’d got wind of their antics on the ground.
On the subject of opening doors. Believe it or not, when I worked on the 747 for a foreign carrier I was taught a way of cracking open the door and holding it there with seat belt extension straps. You’d do two doors, one at each end. This was a procedure for use at FL100 to vent smoke out of the cabin if we had a problem. We were told that even depressurised at this level the door wouldn’t open much due to the aircraft speed. Whether the extra oxygen coming in would have made a fire worse and done for us that way I don’t know. I suppose if you’re struggling for air anything is worth a try.
Now I just dodge trucks trying to run me over on the M25! Guess I’d better check the insurance policy:)

As we all know the problem is often people drinking their duty frees rather that what they were served by the cabin crew. I was on a flight earlier this year where a couple were detained once the plane landed. They were not causing trouble but they were seriously drunk and incapable of walking having consumed their duty frees either in the terminal or on board the plane. 🙁

Its repeated in our towns and streets, lets face it, we are a sick violent nation. ban booze on flights or limit every passenger to 2 glasses each.
Shame the plane was not at 10,000ft where you could open the door, I would have kicked them out. !
By: Jet 22 - 27th July 2008 at 09:57
These two would of probably been the CHAVS of the flight you know the ones who are rude in everything they say, say dum comments, and basically get on the plane with the wrong attitude but because they havnt violated any regulations the captain can not chuck them off.
Shows how educated this folk are- i will try and open the door at 33,000FT

when such people are restrained and on there seat someone should give them a copy of Physics 101 . Probably give Hollywood directors a copy too.
