It was a Ukranian MD80 of UM Airlines anyway, not Russian at all 🙂
I wouldn’t instill you with much confidence seeing those half hearted patch up jobs no matter what country the aircraft is from

I knew it was an MD-80something but I couldn’t think of any Russian airlines operating them. That’d be why!

Sorry Gary, but there is a HUGE difference between using Speedtape to temporarily repair a dent, until a definitive fix can be applied at a maintenance base a couple of hours later (This will only be done in a manner approved by the authorities AND the manufacturer), and what looks like a threashed interior where parts hold together with some transparent packaging tape.
None compromise the safety, but one of those will expose what looks like a lack of care to the fleet. And while here it apprently involved a Russian plane, this has nothing to do with countries, it has to do with the company doing it.
So, please put aside your pro Russian, anti Western paranoia.
(And I won’t say this twice.)

That will do, gentlemen!
Knock lumps off one another by PM, if you really must, but keep it away from the forum.
Thanks
