LHR, LGW, LCY, STN, LTN all in 1 Flight

Saw this great video on youtube. I am a bit confused though, how did they get permission to do this kind of flying (particularly over LHR?). And at Stansted they don’t seem to have been flying straight from one navaid to another, they’re just kinda flying around in random circles! Anyone enlighten me?

Fixed wing a/c can transit LL under SVFR, no problem. Of course, the definition of SVFR includes the phrase “not to hinder IFR traffic”, which would be the case if there were other a/c around at the time.

It’s an amazing video isn’t it! Well worth getting up early for, I’m sure. I believe it was a case of “who you know”, particularly with the orbits overhead.

Great find Dan!

Normally the only VFR aircraft allowed to transit via the LHR overhead are helicopters (using the fuel farm, duel taxiways etc.)

I’m guessing these guys were either especially lucky, or the had booked it way in advance, and because of the time of day, they allowed it.

Thats quite strange, maybe they gained special permission due to the time of day, they flew quite early in the morning. Even so, its quite odd.
