Old Commercial Aircraft Now Fulfilling Other Roles!

Hi All,

I was going through some tour photos from a few years ago and came across these. It’s an old 727 parked up at the side of a motorway in Denmark which I believe is now used as offices. Rubbish photos as they were taken through the window of a moving bus, but you get the idea!

I quite like my little touring office with my mixing desk and toys, but I want an office like that!

There also used to be an old Convair 880 parked up on the side of the road next to Lisbon airport. It was delivered to Delta in 1960 and flew with them util 1973. It was abandoned in Lisbon during the 80’s and ended up being used as a restaurant and then the Showgirls strip joint. It’s now been scrapped sadly, but I had the opportunity to see it many times over the last few years and it was always a great sight.

And during scrapping. A sad end for this beautiful old aircraft.

Anyone else know of any aircraft now being used for slightly unconventional things?

Paul

How about having a disused 727-200 as a humble home Paul?

Total cost = $315k (approx £161k), although I doubt that includes the cost of shipping the necessary bits over the UK, and you must own the land underneath the aircraft which could be costly, but still much cheaper than buying a normal house these days I think, and would certainly be an interesting experience!:D

The Boeing 727 above is ex Southend and was, for a time, with Dan Air as G-BNNI

Paul, I wonder if that 727 is an ex Sterling machine, if so then I have definitely loadsheeted it in the 80s at Stansted. 🙂 Steve love that IL62!

I guess you must include aircraft sunk in lakes for the purpose of diving upon?

Plenty of planes that are used as restaurants. At least one that is used as a company canteen (incomplete F100 bought from bankruptcy, posi’d in either Tilburg or Breda). Quite a few planes used as a billboard too, mostly smaller planes such as fighters. Mostly eastern block as they are relatively easily to get.
