PIA To Fly To LBA Twice Weekly from 2nd July

It seems PIA have taken over the bookings Shaheen are unable to operate and will be flying from Islamabad to LBA twice weekly, on a Wednesday and Saturday.

From what I understand the route may be made regular later in the year.

I think this is great news for my local. I can only assume they’ll be operating an A310, which will be a very welcome sight at LBA and will maintain our long haul link with Asia.

I’ll be making a very special effort to get up to LBA early on the 2nd!

The A310’s were banned too. Hence the sudden appearance of 777’s on the Glasgow-Lahore route before it was suspended indefintely. The route and A310’s have recently returned to service however…

Ahh… I wasn’t aware of that. I just knew the A310’s were currently flying to the UK. Thanks for clarifying, though!

That was exactly the reason the 747’s were pulled from the MAN route, but it was only the 747’s that were banned. The A310’s still fly to the UK. 🙂

Ah right.Thanks for the info.

Might have a trip across with the camera to catch it also.

i was of the understanding that all PIAs fleet, except there 777s were banned from UK and European airspace as of March 2007 (i think)? as they failed to meet safety criteria? I thought this was the reason they pulled the 747s out of MAN. Again i may be wrong in thinking this

Exelent to hear that LBA will be getting more interesting traffic.

Now correct me if im wrong (most probably will be) regarding the equipment to be used,i was of the understanding that all PIAs fleet, except there 777s were banned from UK and European airspace as of March 2007 (i think)? as they failed to meet safety criteria? I thought this was the reason they pulled the 747s out of MAN. Again i may be wrong in thinking this Apollogies if so

Well I can’t imagine a Triple 7 managing LBA just yet :diablo:, great news for LBA though.
