FEDEX Ramp Photo – 100+ Aircraft

What a sight !!

I was fortunate enough to stopover in Memphis on Sunday 4th May and
thought the following may be helpful.
I was seated on the left hand side , and on approach to 18R at
Memphis and saw an amazing sight of over 120 Fedex aircraft on the ramp
as we landed (approx 2.30pm) – a mad fumble for the point and shoot camera produced this amazing sight

On the stroke of 4pm the Fedex exodus began and over the next 90
minutes over 80 aircraft departed off rw 18L and rw18R.

At least one of those was possibly flying to my home airport (guess which one :P)

What happens in the event of a catastrophe like a hurricane or an earthquake which would cause immediate disruption to the ‘guaranteed overnight’ service?

Hurricane? LOL It’s Memphis it far enough inland to where a hurricane would be incredibly weak by time it got there 😉

earthquakes, that’s another story. (it is near New Madrid)

An amazing picture. This brings to mind the saying, ‘all your eggs in one basket!’

What happens in the event of a catastrophe like a hurricane or an earthquake which would cause immediate disruption to the ‘guaranteed overnight’ service?
