my new toys arrived today in the form of VFR Photographic Scenery S & SE and FS Terrain for FS2002. i thought i’d share my thoughts on both of them for those that haven’t got them, to try and entice you into buying them.
the difference between the default scenery in FS2002 and the new textures and mesh are amazing. if you want to see what the UK countryside really looks like from the sky, then i suggest investing in VFR Photographic Scenery.
the detail from the air is absolutely incredible – even to the extent of seeing my road, and school, and college etc etc.
the pros are the levels of realism – they are that good.
the cons are that there are no seasonal variations, or nightime textures, and you’ll need a very capable pc to get the best out of it, although you can still, i believe, get amazing results on a less powerful system.
the place to buy – from justflight’s website – sorry Key pub online shop – it costs just £12.99 from JF site – a lot less than on sites like amazon. its also free shipping – AND if you sign up to ‘just rewards’ – you get 500 starting reward points – a further £5 off!!
if you hate the default ‘flatness’ of the mesh in FS, then get FS Terrain. it’ll put the default mesh to shame. in the package you get 4 CD’s covering western europe – from ireland to edge of russia, and the USA.
it makes the world look more realistic, and with VFR photogprahic, it’ll make the UK even better.
again, you’ll need a pretty nice PC to get the best of it, but you can still see massive improvements to the mesh. don’t get mixed up with VFR Terrain – a similar programme just covering england and wales.
pros – much more detial in mountainous areas, and massive improvements in detail in flatter areas
cons – when does the asia pack come out – me wants it. you need a decent computer to get the best of it.
hope that was helpful and interesting, i’ll post some more screenshots if you want some.
