Did you, or any one really expect Airbus to have a chance with this fleet renewal?
Not really 😉 However I didn’t give them the slightest chance with the USAF tanker order neither 😮

Hey, why no Airbus order? France and Germany are the few countries that never dropped bombs on Iraq. And the Iraqis had so much success with French aircraft, and also with the French made nuclear reactor for peaceful (hey, what else 😀 ) nuclear technology.

 and who are they expecting to carry around in these planes? Plane ticket-for-a-terrorist programme?

They HAVE Airbus order:

Note that the A310 order count is still 260. Airbus has not cancelled the 5 A310 yet to be delivered.
Airbus seem to think that A300/A310 production ceased in July 2007.
Perhaps you should contact them and point out the error of their ways? 😎

At the risk of sounding like a pessimist, are these aircraft going to be fitted with IRWR/IRCM?
What is the threat level to non-military aircraft in Iraq?
I think the BBC reported very recently that RAF military transports usually operate at night with all their lights off (except cockpit, I guess), because its so dangerous in Iraq.
