An inquiry into a major plane crash in Indonesia which killed more than 100 people has found that pilot error and a faulty navigation device were to blame.
The plane, a Boeing 737 operated by Adam Air, crashed into the sea on New Year’s Day last year.
It took 10 days to find the wreckage and more than three weeks for its flight data recorder to be recovered.
Investigators found that the two pilots had accidentally switched off the automatic pilot.
They had been trying to rectify a fault in the navigation system.
The plane then banked steeply and hit the ocean.
The plane had been flying between Java and Sulawesi when it came down off the Sulawesi coast.
Adam Air’s planes were all grounded last week because of its poor safety record.
