RAF Cottesmore Pt 1 – Pomp and Ceremony.

Number 3 (Fighter) Squadron Handover Parade and the Re-Commissioning of 800 Naval Air Squadron – 31 Mar 06

Apart from the Typhoon going ‘Tech’ after its flypast, so no display during the parade, and the flying display not taking place, could not find out why, and then being informed that there would be a Typhoon display at 13.00 and then being told it had gone ‘Tech’ as well and as we were in the Hive having lunch as the display started, it was a good day.

1) 3(F) Harrier colours before handing over.
2) 3(F) Harrier personnel at the front with 3(F) Typhoon behind and the parade square slopes.
3) OC 3(F) Harrier requesting permission to hand over the colours.
4) Handover from Harrier on the right to Typhoon on the left.
5) Part of 3(F) Harrier marching off.
6) 3(F) Typhoon Colours being marched off.
7) 800 NAS Platoons having marched onto the parade square the Commissioning Warrant is read out and the address given by the RN Reviewing Officer.
8) Newly commissioned 800 NAS march off the Parade Square.
9) 800 NAS.
10) Finally the band march off.
