The AP is reporting that a Singapore Airlines A380 jet rolled partly off an airport runway while taxing for takeoff in Singapore.
“The damage is very limited, it’s superficial in the sense that there is possibly damage to tires, but nothing to the structure of the aircraft,” said airline spokesman Stephen Forshaw.
The mishap occured Thursday while the plane was getting ready to depart for Sydney. No injuries were reported among the 446 passengers.

Now thats funny right there….:)
But seriously, do you want to be the big kahuna, the number 1 guy on the block or not? The fact is that Airbus got what they desired for so long, they now have the big attention grabbing airplane. They should expect some increased scrutiny. No harm was done by this making the press.
If you want to be on the cover of the magazines, you have to accept the fact that the paparazzi are gonna follow you around with cameras…..
I think what Airbus actually desire is to manufacture and sell high-quality aeroplanes to operators all around the world. The same is, of course, equally true of Boeing.
Most of the other stuff is only really significant in the minds of fanboys (and fangirls, too!) of either persuasion.

Aircraft was being towed at the time and the tow bar from the tug went defective according to Jetphotos.net here: http://www.jetphotos.net/news/index.php?blog=1&title=singapore-cancels-a380-flight-puts-passe-400&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1. Imagine how annoyed you’d be if you’d been bumped onto a 747-400 having been due to do your first A380 flight!
