Wonder what the plans for the Thomsonfly fleet when they take over First choice ?
By: QantasCrew - 29th November 2007 at 22:05
First Choice Airways will be pretty much obsolete by October 2008. Most flights, if you check, for Winter 08/09 for First Choice Holidays are operated by Thomsonfly.
Thomson have begun the task of closing down retail units, you may note the First Choice HolidayHypermarket at the Trafford Centre had already faced the chop. The name of the high street will slowly migrate to TUI.

The names of the airlines will not change until at least 2009, just both on the 1 AOC.

TUI Travel Plc.:D
TUI Travel PLC is the name of the whole travel group. http://www.tuitravelplc.com/tuitravel On the high street, you will still see Thomson and First Choice as separate brands. As for the airline, Thomsonfly and First Choice are being merged onto a single AOC by May 2008…..as to the name of the airline….anyone’s guess (did I hear someone suggest Britannia?)

Just wondering do you think a new scheduled and charter airline will start up after all this? And lets hope Monarch will stay on its own and not merger like TUI/FCA and MYT/TCA.

Im guessing all 767-300s and 757s will pass to Thomsonfly where as the Airbuses will be replaced by 737-800s and i also wonder if Thomsonfly are ridding of their 737-300s.
By: aidoair - 27th November 2007 at 19:09
Exactly the logical idea would be to replace the older 733 fleet with newer 737NG aircraft just like Tuifly in germany is and also other airlines in the TUI group including Thomsonfly are adding more 737-800s to their fleets so replacing these aircraft with a small number of Airbus aircraft from the FCA fleet would definately not be the way they go. As ‘threedeltamax’ says it will most likely be the FCA airbus aircraft that get replaced before any other, the A321’s are already planned to have left the fleet by summer next year.

Well that is a real shame. Why not get rid of the 733/735 fleet replace them with the A320 fleet and put an order for A319 to take over the 733/35 fleet would seem like a more logical idea to me. What about the 787 orders will they just boost more frequncies on routes or maybe we might see a few new charter routes come in?
Well maybe thats one of the options, but for the next year or so i wouldnt be expecting any change!
As far as i know, the 787s will be deployed on new routes to Caribbean, South East Asia(Middle east) and Australia! The later being the highest priority

Whats wrong with the 737s? There perfect for small bases such as NCL infact we have had a 737 based at NCL all summer and it aint missed a beat. Its even operating to TFS.

The TUI Travel Policy have no intentions so far of disposing of any aircraft. So it will be the two fleets merged into one!
