Some Dutch developments.
Not seen it mentioned here yet, so for both of you that might have missed it: KLM and Transavia have been ordering quite a bit of planes. Here’s a summary of developments. Some of it old news but included for the sake of completeness.
Arkefly
- The first B737-800 has been delivered.
- Registrations have been reserved for six more B737-800s, as well as a B787! (PH-TUI).
KLM
- Another two B777-300s have been ordered on top of the earlier four. First one to be delivered in february.
- Another two A330-200s have been ordered.
- Another three B737-700s have been ordered on top of the earlier ordered seven. First one due to be delivered in july. As a consequence seven classics (300s and 400s) will be retired.
- The A330 will be removed from Heathrow. The flight will now be done with B737-300 till the B737-700 comes in.
- KLM with start withdrawing the MD-11s and B747 combis from 2014.
- Old news already: KLM Cityhopper will get five former Air France F70s and will get ten new Embraer 190s to replace the older F100s.
- Already four N737NGs have had winglets added. The rest of the fleet will get them before the summer season.
Martinair
- The final A320 has been retired. All European charter flights will cease.
Schiphol
- The spotterssite alongside the Kaagbaan is now expected to remain open till december-ish. Don’t shoot me if this turns out to be wrong cause the date seems to change every time there’s a week in the month.
- A new official spottersite has been constructed alongside the Polderbaan. It will remain closed till the NIMBY’s can be dealed with.
- A new aviation store has been opened in the terminal. Not seen it myself yet but I have been told it is more a tourist shop then a spotters shop. At scramble they mentioned it is not a must visit for spotters, unlike the old World of Wings was.
Transavia
- Transavia has ordered seven new B737-800s with options on three more. These will replace the oldest of their B737-800s.
- The last of Transavia’s planes has been fitted with winglets (PH-XRA). Now the entire fleet has winglets.
