Depending on the weather, I am thinking of taking my first ever trip to Birmingham airport next saturday and wondered what the viewing facilities are like. I suppose it would be pointless to ask if there is a viewing gallery???

does that mean that if your trip to an Airport is REALLY exciting its all over in a few minutes:diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
LoL – I hadn’t thought of that 😀 😀

Well, thanks for all the replies (Thks also Matt for the link – looks very good).
My partner suggested a day out there as a birthday treat and even if the weather is not that great and there is nothing fantastic movements wise, I have not been there before and I always take the view that a trip to an airport is a bit like s*x – even when its bad, its still pretty good. 😀

Dont mean to dash your hopes, but I have been to BHX before and I didnt really enjoy it much. The only thing I do like about it is the gift shop!
In terms of traffic though, all there was a couple of Flybe Dash 8’s/ERJ’s, an Eastern Airways JS41 and the Emirates 777, thats about it. I got really bored, so I took a wander round the terminal and then went home!
Abit harsh to judge the airport on one visit, adding to what Matt above already wrote you also have the PIA B777s, Turkmenistan B757s and other operators such as Norwegian Air Shuttle and FlyWhoosh make for an interesting sight.
Being a LGW local I’m sure anywhere that’s not LGW/LHR/MAN would count as quiet and boring ….

Ok its not the best airport in terms of movements (especially this time of the year) but BHX has a decent amount of good movements such as the Air India 777, EK 773ER, all the baby 737’s, flybe fleet, Monarch, all the usual charter and business traffic. More than what ‘Cloud 9’ makes out.
So if that website doesn’t answer all of your questions, email me as I run the website (www.flyintobhx.co.uk)

Thanks Grey Area – Now that has come as a bit of a shock. I suppose I shouldn’t be so cynical. I am taking my camera but I will be there the whole day so I can stoat about to see where to take pictures, but the viewing gallery looks OK to rest and have some refreshments while still keeping an eye on proceedings.:D

Guess what?
There is a viewing gallery! 🙂
Not much use for photography, though. 🙁
