Is there a DC-3 based at Liverpool?
James
Funnily enough whilst driving into Liverpool City Centre at 11:10 on Sunday I saw a DC3 with a silver/grey colourscheme with the white and black bands on the wings. It was flying very low over the houses before banking sharply towards the city centre. As it flew over the centre it dropped what I assume were poppy petals. To see that old bird with the trail of red behind was truly memorable.

I must say the drone of a DC3 is certainly up there in comparison with the Merlin engine.
The BBMF quartet, when flying together, just produces the most wonderful sound imaginable, truly amazing. 🙂
You guys need to get close to a Lockheed Constellation on take off some time…;)

Ever heard a Merlin mate?;)
I agree the sound of a heavy 757 on take off is something special!Rgds Cking
Yes I have heard a Merlin, and I agree they wound wonderful! I also agree on the 757. I’ve spent many a happy hour at MAN’s south side watching those beautiful aircraft take to the skies. 🙂

One thing… I love the sound of 757’s, but the DC-3 is the most beautiful sounding aircraft I’ve ever heard!

It flew almost directly over my house (west Bradford) just a short time ago at around (guessing) 3000 feet. I assumed it was the RAF one but I’ve been informed it was N473DC. Exactly what it was doing I have no idea. One thing… I love the sound of 757’s, but the DC-3 is the most beautiful sounding aircraft I’ve ever heard!
