Easyjet to move call centre to Poland…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bucks/herts/6982350.stm

Cant sat that I am at all ‘suprised’ by this decision really as EZY are a low-cost airline after all, and they will do anything in order to reduce costs!

I do feel sorry for the 144 people who will loose their jobs, and hope that EZY look after them properly before they leave!

Any way why are people getting upset about jobs being exported now? When the ship/motor bike/clothing/electronic/car manufacturing industrys were distroyed by cheap forign imports did any body complain?

Not many people complained, only the ones who lost their jobs. The others didn’t complain because they were getting a better product at a cheaper price. British industry did not keep up with, instigate changes or anticipate what the consumer would want.

What do you expect? They are a low cost airline and the most expensive bit of the operation is wages. They would base more out there if they could.
An ex work mate went working for another British low cost out fit. They had a lot of maintenace done abroad. You can guess what I’m about to say, can’t you! Needless to say there is one out fit He and I will not be flying on!

you know, we should stop this from happening, government should penalize the companies, we should stop using the service…

Quite agree…the money raised from any penalty/fine should go to support the workers that have just lost their jobs and their families!

Surely the loss of these and other jobs in similar cases is going to do more harm than good for the UK economy in the long run…?

well… we’re the ones who are responsible for moves like this… no reason to push the blame to the companies…

I have a sneeky suspision that any additional revenue made by yet another cost-cutting measure will simply be used to boost up the profit levels, rather than passing on any savings to the customer. Face it, the wages of 144 people is not going to have a huge impact on the overall cost per seat, thus not going to lower fares that much!

Surely it cannot be fair on the Polish workers too, the working conditions they must have to endure cannot be right…modern day slavery at its best, perhaps?

while the sucker who was born poor gets it in the ass with all the regular taxes on everyday things which he pays (for example the sales tax in the U.S.)….

Don’t worry the Europeans have taxes too, called (in the UK) a Value Added Tax…a sort of national sales tax.
What is it now…17.5%?

well… we’re the ones who are responsible for moves like this… no reason to push the blame to the companies… we want everything cheaper to the point where the cheapest comes from somewhere abroad… and when the companies do move abroad we hear some of the typical responses we have above… you know, we should stop this from happening, government should penalize the companies, we should stop using the service… a few days pass by and we’re back in the same position looking for the cheapest good or service… the only problem i have with these moves is that it would be one thing if easyjet cut a few dollars from the overall cost and that few dollars directly translated into a few dollars savings when you buy a ticket but that isn’t the case… most of that savings goes to the investors… makes sense as they do put up the money and take the risk, but the problem is maybe too much of it is going to the investors… maybe maximum dividends isn’t the best long term policy… many of these investors are rich people who’ve inherited the money and then make more money on top of that by playing with money that they made no effort to attain (i do understand that there are also those small investors who invest through pension plans and etc., but there needs to be a greater distinction between the two, at least here in the U.S. where i don’t believe that great of a distinction exists), while the sucker who was born poor gets it in the ass with all the regular taxes on everyday things which he pays (for example the sales tax in the U.S.)… okay clearly i got off topic… i’ll shut up now…

Easy Poles

Companies who keep exporting British jobs should pay penalties to the Gov for the unemployment they cause, and we should try not to use them again!
