The skies are getting increasingly crowded. The LCCs have little choice but to tread on each other’s toes more and more often.

Like somone else said in another thread quite recently, Ryanair are like the cancer of the aviation industry – they spread everywhere!:D

I don’t believe it to have ever been in Ryanair’s nature to directly compete with EZY.

… other than on the following routes:

  • STN-CIA – GO started the route, FR joined them, U2 dropped it
  • EMA-CIA – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • STN-VLC- U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • STN-LEI – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • LGW-SNN – U2 started the route, FR joined them, U2 dropped it
  • LGW-ORK – U2 started the route, FR joined them, U2 dropped it
  • LGW-NOC – U2 started the route, FR joined them, U2 dropped it, then FR dropped it too
  • LPL-KRK – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • LPL-PMI – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • LPL-ALC – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • STN-PMI – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • STN-ALC – U2 started the route, FR joined them
  • CIA-MAD – U2 started the route, FR joined them

The skies are getting increasingly crowded. The LCCs have little choice but to tread on each other’s toes more and more often.

Does anyone know if FR will expand out of LGW at all?

I know EasyJet have a substantial base already, but it would be good for Ryanair to add a few more destinations rather than just Dublin, Shannon and Cork…

Just touching on what you said, I can see Ryanair expanding out of LGW but certainly not on any established routes that EZY have. I don’t believe it to have ever been in Ryanair’s nature to directly compete with EZY.

Aer Lingus have annouced four daily flights each way between Belfast Intl and Heathrow. They want to make Belfast Intl into their UK Hub.

Above taken from local BBC news.

Aer Lingus haven’t announced anything, yet. BBC website says:

And Aer Lingus is to fly from Belfast International to London Heathrow in August, the BBC has learned.

They seem to believe they’ll be starting in August, somehow I don’t think so.

If you havent seen my Thread, Cloud_9.

In there booking system it shows that you can book Gatwick to Paris Beauvais. But there are no dates so you cant book. Also they havnt announced anything. I was hoping for them to say today that they were going to fly BHD to LGW and a few more routes. Then theres more choice for us rather than tracking accross london

Excellent news for BHD and Belfast. Bit disappointing that BRS and LTN were not included particularly BRS which performed reasonably well for BE until they ditched it last year. In fact, the announcement was uncharacteristically downbeat for FR, perhaps they want to test the water and see what reaction there is from the local NIMBYs to yet more “great big jumbo jets rattling the chimney pots and knocking granny’s ornaments off the mantlepiece” before considering further routes.

Now we all await the Aer Lingus announcement about BFS with baited breath!
