I was wondering how close the actual hand over is? I always had the idea in my head that it was to be in/around October.
I suppose even if it is handed over soon, SIA will spend some time with familiarisation etc

It’s not often you hear of a schedule involving the A380 being brought forward and not pushed back 😮 😉
It’s because the last “update” on A380 programme was done using conservative planning, another “first” in A380 programme.

Airbus said Friday that “final preparations” are underway for the October delivery of the first A380 to Singapore Airlines. The manufacturer said the aircraft returned to Toulouse after undergoing cabin interior installation in Hamburg

Does anyone know what the first flight routing will be, and when will tickets be available for purchase for the first flight from LHR?
The first revenue services will be Singapore-Sydney and Singapore- Melbourne.. i would suggest Changi -Heathrow would soon follow

I like it I think the SIA livery looks great on the A380:cool: Cant wait to see the A380 at LHR.
BTW Jon did you get my last PM?

Must be me then because the more I look at that first picture, the more I dislike the livery…oh well, personal opinions can differ.
Cant wait to see the A380 at LHR.
Agreed. Cant wait to see it at LHR too, even more when it is in Virgin’s or BA’s livery!
BTW Jon did you get my last PM?
Yes, I did get your last PM, many thanks.

To be honest, I dont like the Singapore livery on the A380. I wonder whether that is because the livery is too big for the aircraft or vice-versa, or maybe it is just this particular image itself…anyone else have the same feeling at all?

Amazingly on the first picture and without any scale reference , the bird looks as short as an A318 :p

I concur! It just looks too big and blocky? I think the lettering is too big and/or could be in a nicer style. Anyway, personal opinions. 😎
I was under the impression that the first routing would involve a Singapore-Sydney trip?

News reports recently have indicated that the handoff may be earlier then anticipated by airbus (maybe sept) however what SQ does with it isnt known , maybe they do not change there plans and use the extra time for more training and familiarization , once the handoff is made we would get some indication from SQ on when they put it into revenue service !
