Ok, here are some questions to see if anyone can answer them…
1. On average, how many pax pass through LHR each day?
2. Which airline is the oldest airline still operating under its original name?
3. What name is given to flights between Europe and Australia which make one ‘hop’ along the way in an Asian city? (Bit of a give away this one!)
4. Why is the grass at LHR/LGW deliberatley cut no lower than 15cm?
Sorry, but there is no prize for correct answers!

4)
If the aerodrome is utilising the ‘long grass policy’ of bird control (as LHR certainly does), around mid-March to May the grass should typically be cut to within 50mm of the surface, either every two or three years, or a rolling programme.

Chapter 4 Section 2.6.8.1 refers.
PS If anyone wants a laugh, have a look at Chapter 4 Section 3.2.10.2, manual dispersal techniques.
