DP780 Any Info

Hello all. Im flying to bodrum on august 13th from birmingham on flight DP780 (First Choice). The flight was supposed to be with MyTravel but the travel agents recently changed (thankfully, nothing but trouble with MyTravel). I was just wondering if anyone knows what type of aircraft they are using for this route at the moment and if anyone went on the same flight last year. I am guessing they are using a 757 at the moment because the route will not be that busy, but by the time august comes round the kiddies will be on there school jollies so was hoping they might change to one of there 767’s. If anyone has any information for me and feedback on first choice it would be greatly appreciated. Went to Bodrum 3 years ago from gatwick and had a 28hr delay in bodrum thats why i dislike MyTravel 😮 .

oh my dad has just informed me that it was not a 28 hour delay but a 40 hour delay? you may all remember it well. I found this on the bbc website to jog some memories.

Passengers’ 40-hour flight delay

Holidaymakers stranded at Gatwick Airport for 40 hours have finally taken off for Turkey.
More than 300 passengers were delayed due to technical problems with their MyTravel plane.

They were due to depart for Bodrum at 1900 BST on Monday but finally left on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for the holiday firm said:”We are very, very sorry about what’s happened. We have had technical problems with this plane.”

Holiday ‘cut short’

Passenger George Nguyen-Xuan, 43, who was taking his three children on holiday, said: “The kids are exhausted.

“Our week’s holiday has already gone down to five days, which is upsetting to say the least.”

Before the plane set off, Ed Kessler, 32, who was looking forward to a sailing holiday with his girlfriend, said: “When we get to Turkey, we will have to catch up with the boat somewhere – but I don’t know if we will.”

He added: “This was an expensive holiday.”

“We’ve had enough. We are completely fed up. No one from the company is telling us what’s going on. We can’t get our luggage – they said it was taken up early because of security.”

The travel firm’s spokeswoman said there had been difficulty getting a replacement aircraft at what is the busiest time of year.

“Passengers have been kept up to date as much as possible,” she said.

“They have been put in hotels, given meals and some cash-in-hand.

“They will also be entitled to apply for compensation.”

But i was one of the ones stuck in bodrum.

Meanwhile, jump 3 years forward to the present day and while MyTravel are operating 83% of flights on time or early, First Choice are clocking up and average delay of around 60 minutes operating just 66% of its flights to schedule.

Yes but we still had the 28 hr delay:eek: . I remember standing in bodrum airport and the only MyTravel flight that was on time that day was the one going to manchester. I think there were 4 or 5 flights that day. We all laugh at it now tho, I will admit that i was happy we were stuck in bodrum in a 4* hotel for 24hrs rather than the poor sods who were stuck in gatwick and missed 2 days of there holiday. And you gave us £50 when we stepped off the plane, on top of the money we got back from insurance it halved the price of our holiday:diablo: .

First Choice seat pitch is 28″ (not 28-30″) in line with all short haul charter airlines.

Yep 757 mate.

Flew FCA last month. Great Charter Airline. Flying them to Egypt in August too. The seats are fairly comfortable and the meals are good too. Thats all that matters:p I suggest you try and get to row’s 12-15 as these are right over the wing front. Although i beleive it is 13 that is plugged?

Regards

It will be a 757 operating the flight with the usual 28-29″ seat pitch and green leather seats, as this is the aircraft they have based at Birmingham. They very rarely use their 767’s on shorthaul flights as they are fully booked up into the longhaul schedules and if and when they do it is usually to cover an aircraft or when a new longhual aircraft has arrived just to try out any teetthing troubles it may have. Hope this helps, Have a nice flight and holiday.
