Yeah , but the contract was void since they switched to another aircraft . The moment airbus cancelled the older versions (Dubbed the XNB) the contract was void . So all those airlines had to renogitiate contracts , which wasnt bad because airbus gave them XWB’s for XNB price , which was a steal because the former is a brand new aircraft while the latter was a warmed over A330 . QR was offered the A350-900 for the same price boeing was willing to offer the 787-8 so a KILLER deal .

Actually they ordered only 30 – new, since 50 of their old A350 were still on the book. Correct?

‘XWB’ stands for ” ‘Xtra Wide Body’ “, kinda like a marketing ploy to stress that the ‘new’ A350 is going to be a little wider than a near-competitors offering.
EDIT: Darn, you beat me to it, Phil 🙂
:D:D Only just though!

Yep XWB – stands for eXtra Wide Body – after the revamp I believe it gained a wider cabin.

The XWB thing refers to the revamped A350 family Airbus are launching to counter the 787 mate.
