My parents are going to the Algarve next month for my dad’s 50th birthday. I’m flying NCL-FAO on easyjet a couple of days later to meet them.
Basically I’m looking for suggestions on where to sit as I’ll be travelling alone. Am I right in thinking it’s a 6 across layout? I imagine the flight will be pretty full and I don’t really want to be stuck in the middle of two people. I ended up like that on a flight from CDG-LAX and it wasn’t that fun.
Anyone have any suggestions/strategies they recommend?

Is that the row behind the two? I guess that would be a good choice as I like a window but I wouldn’t feel too enclosed.
Are you allowed a bag there? Can you put it under the seat two rows in front?
I think on my last flight with easy i was told to put my bag in the over head. I was also given a talk by a gourgous member of the cabin crew on how to open the Window exit incase of an emergancy.

The seat i allways go for is the Wing Escape seat plenty of leg room and a nice window all to your self. Best to get your self in boarding group A.

Does easyjet have four seats in the emergency exit row? Do you think that would be a better place to sit and do you think I’d manage to get a seat there?
Also, is there a full window on the exit?

If you check in online you do not get boarding group A, it is something like C and I am also sure that you cannot check in online if you have baggage to go into the hold.
Speedy boarding works fairly well if it is managed well. EDI is very good at it, usually speedy boarders are called to the gate by name. However not all EZY stations are controlled as well.

Thanks for all your comments.
I don’t really want to pay any more, it seems like a farce anyway as it doesn’t seem to guarantee anything. I think I’ll just be checking in as early as possible. Does anyone know if you can check-in online for flights from NCL? And if I were to check-in at the earliest possible time would I be in the first boarding group?
In regards to when to book, I got this NCL-FAO flight the day they were released by easyjet last year. I paid about £60 for a return, including the extra £5 tax. At the moment the same flight is about £60 one way.

I don’t think there is a better place to sit when flying with easyJet. On the two occasions I flew with them, I was sat in seat F on the second-to-last row. There isn’t a window on the last row.
Allen, I’m not convinced that easyJet is even cheap these days. Definitely use www.travelsupermarket.com before booking up. It will search low cost airlines and every other airline that flies the route you are after. Hopefully, you’ll be able to secure a seat with a different airline and pay a little less for it. The best thing about the site is that it is simply a price comparison site and you don’t pay for the service. You simply click the flight you want to book, click on a link, and then book up direct with the airline.
I see easyJet were advertising London Gatwick to Valencia (I think) on a billboard in my local area today. But I don’t feel that at 82GBP return it is worth the money!

When I flew with EZY last year, we were in boarding band ‘B’. When we finally got onto the aircraft, they weren’t many seats too pick from, but…we were traveling as a football team, and England were in the world cup…yes, we did hold the flight up.
I know that post was only slightly on topic, but there we go!

Fozi999,
I think the best thing to do may be to arrive at the check in desk as early as possible and get in one of the early boarding groups. I’ve booked AMS-LTN-AMS for the 22nd May and on the booking page it gave me the option to be in the first boarding group (for £2.50 per flight) regardless of when I check in. If you check in early you should still have a reasonable choice of where to sit when you board.
Hope that helps.
Paul
EDIT: Just noticed Si posted before me!

Fozi,
As a seasoned weekly Easyjet customer (my wife even bought me shares in the company for my birthday), I can only suggest 2 things to ensure you get a good seat on the aircraft, 1. turn up early to book in, seats 1-30 or boarding group A is the best (I am unsure if they work the boarding group routine at NCL) and 2. If you have the option for Speedy Boarding which will get you to the front of the Queue. A word of caution though, if the aircraft is parked at a remote stand and you have to board a bus to get to the aircraft, the speedy boarding option is blown out of the water as it then becomes a free for all whhen the bus doors open at the aircraft……if you want leg room, sit at the emergency exits over the wing or at the front row of the aircraft……good luck. Oh and yes it is 3 abreast (6 across) and the aircraft will be a 737-700.
And can I add a supplementary question re: booking Easyjet…?
Is anyone aware of a best time to book, regarding getting the best prices ?
I remember someone recommending around two months ahead for long haul which seemed to work for me. Anyone found a similar thing with Easyjet ? I plan to go from Glasgow to Alicante in August btw…
Renfrew,
Simple mate…earlier you book, the cheaper the cost. Also try to pick an unusual time to travel..mid week is usually much cheaper than Friday / Saturday. Good Luck.
